AI has made its way into nearly every facet of the healthcare industry. From research and drug discovery to diagnostics and disease management, AI-enabled technology is helping to make healthcare more efficient, effective, and cheaper. In 2019 when I first wrote about some of the budding applications of AI in the healthcare sector, AI was a differentiator. Today, it’s an investment that many companies are making to reap the benefits of improved customer engagement and reach, increased revenue, reduced costs, and managed risks, among other things. This shift calls for an updated post.

This post will introduce up-to-date data on the market value and growth of AI in the healthcare sector. With such rapid development and deployment of AI-powered technologies across the scope of a massive industry, it can be challenging to get your bearings. I hope this post can serve as a current roadmap of the sector, outlining critical data to provide an overview of where the industry sits now and a view of where it’s headed.
